Is your dog suffering from skin infection? Do not ignore such symptoms. Skin rashes and itching is not limited to humans alone. Even dogs get these at times. They also suffer from dry skin, oily skin etc. You would have to get him treated at a vet's clinic and buy the ointments and creams as per prescription. The treatment will also include dietary changes and restrictions.

Just like us humans, dogs too get skin infections and allergies as a result of various factors both internal as well as external. While body ailments like hypothyroidism is known to be common amongst dogs, this can often lead to skin infections and itching etc. Besides they develop allergies and rashes too in addition to the infections brought about by flea, mange and ticks.

If you notice that your dog is biting or licking himself all the time, you should get him checked by a vet. They do contract infections through the food they consume such as beef, wheat and dairy foods.

When in case of infection, your vet will prescribe necessary oral medication as well as the skin ointments and anti bacterial creams to stop the infection from spreading as well as curing faster.

In addition to treatment, a change in diet would also be required to ensure further occurrences of infections are avoided. Check with your vet and collaboratively develop a diet plan avoiding these foods and replacing them with healthier alternatives.

Doctors normally prescribe a course of antibiotics to be administered orally to the dog in case of bacterial food infection. They also combine this with suitable skin ointments or cream with anti bacterial property.

You should always get such ailments treated by the vet, for he knows what is the best course of treatment and be able to diagnose the problem accurately. He has many options of oral antibiotics, injections, flea collars, skin ointments, shampoos, steroids etc and can choose appropriate course depending upon the severity of condition.

Do not think that your vet can do manage and the infection will vanish in a matter of few hours. No, the treatment can take a few weeks for complete cure or might take a few months or perhaps years too depending upon how the dog responds to the treatment.
